Eldership

Andrew Steele took over the senior pastor’s role from Peter Frogley in early 2021, with a clear vision to see GCC (both as an entity and as individuals) apply the word of God in all aspects of ministry and life. Andrew’s wife Jocelyn co-manages the children’s ministry and they have three children.

John Garrard has lived in Canberra since 1990 and is involved with most of the ministries of the church. By day and night he works as a graphic designer, web designer and computer technician, as well as a key role with Light Educational Ministries. John and his wife Linda (who co-manages the children’s ministry) have four children.

David Frogley is the elder responsible for liaising with the Business Council and has a dual elder/deacon role. David is a Canberra bus driver and keeps a keen eye on current affairs and the community. He is married to Jackie (who heads the music ministry of the church) and has three adult children.

Business Council

Bill Monaghan had a long and well-travelled career in the Australian Public Service. Since his retirement and appointment to the leadership of the church he has been active in establishing and running the Seniors’ fellowship and has a great desire for the church to be affecting the community in a very practical way. He and his wife Christine have two adult sons.

Andrew Heath has a background in computer programming and brings his technical skills to the team, working with the sound and audiovisual aspects of the church. His well-thought pulpit contributions are always a pleasure to hear, as are his performances on the baritone horn in the Canberra Brass Band.

Daniel Garrard is an engineer who has worked in the private and public sectors. He assists with many of the technical tasks around the church community and has a keen interest in biblical history. He and his wife Jenny have four children.

Rostyn and Kylie Heffernan joined GCC after a long stint of travelling around Australia, doing things as diverse as working in the WA mines to staffing a rehabilitation clinic in Coffs Harbour. They run a successful electrician franchise and always bring a fresh angle to the issues at hand. Rostyn and Kylie have three children.

Choqi Hasibuan is a native of Indonesia and has spent considerable time working with the Indonesian Christian Fellowship in Canberra. Choqi has taken on the role of church treasurer, and his creative wife Hanna plays in the music team and produces the church newsletter. Choqi and Hanna have two children.

COVID-19 Status

Updated 12 January 2021

We are currently conducting worship services under the ACT Government’s one-person-per-2-square-metre rule, which generally allows the whole congregation to participate in the main auditorium. A condition of entry is that members and visitors log their attendance using the ‘Check in CBR’ app or manually on our sign-in sheet. Restrictions remain around food service and seating distancing, but we welcome all who wish to attend. Mens and ladies fellowships, youth and young adults are back to standard meeting times, but unfortunately seniors morning tea and mainly music have been indefinitely suspended.

We encourage you to continue connecting with one another as much as possible outside of church as members of the Body of Christ. For more information or assistance at any time please phone the church office on 02 6223 2746.
